How to Measure Your Filter

Getting the correct sized filter for your home is a piece of cake…

The filter size is typically printed on the side of you air filter for easy identification. It will read W x L x D:

16 x 20 x 1.

If some knucklehead forgot to print the filter size on the side of your filter, follow these simple steps to get the right size:

Step 1. Measure the width of your filter. If the filter isn’t square, take the smaller measurement first.

Step 2. Measure the length of your filter. Almost there…

Step 3. Measure the depth (thickness) of your filter. You’ve got it, now relax…

You should have something like this…19 ½ x 24 ½ x 1. Ready for some third grade arithmetic…Round your measurement up to the next whole number. Now you know your filter size – 20 x 25 x 1. See, you didn’t forget what you learned in grade school all those years ago…

It’s as simple as that! You are now ready to buy the right filter for your HVAC system.
